"Auld Lang Syne" is a Scots-language poem written by Robert Burns in 1788 and set to the tune of a traditional folk song (Roud # 6294). Traditionally, it is sung to bid farewell to the old year at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve. By extension, it is also sung at funerals, graduations, and as a farewell or ending to other occasions.
In loving memory of our adorable cat - Maya!
I dedicate this rendition to my adorable little 4-year old brown-white tabby DSH (Domestic Short Haired) Maya, who passed away peacefully in my arms on October 30th, 2020. She had developed IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), which turned into lymphoma. She was the sweetest, kindest, and purest soul I've ever met. My goodest girl now rests in peace. After working on Maya - The Chill Cat, this was the last project we worked upon together where she would sit by my side while I was arranging this beautiful piece.Stream the official album on and
Lyrics
Should old acquaintance be forgot,and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you'll buy your pint cup!
and surely I'll buy mine!
And we'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
Chorus
We two have run about the hills,
and picked the daisies fine;
But we've wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
Chorus
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
Chorus
And there's a hand my trusty friend!
And give me a hand o' thine!
And we'll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
