WonderWebWare SiteMap Generator - Review & Demo
What is a Sitemap?
A sitemap is a file where you provide the relationship information about the pages, media, and other content on your site. We will upload this file in the root directory of our site folder (where you have the rest of your .html pages). Search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc., read this file to crawl your site. Typically, if you have a small website (Google defines 'small' as anything below 500 pages!), a sitemap is not required, but it doesn't hurt to generate one and upload it anyway! In today's article, I'm reviewing a FREEware SiteMap Generator (v.0.975 beta), developed by WonderWebWare.
Download the utility from their website here.
Extract links from your site
The steps to generate are simple:- Type your website's URL address
- Click the start button on the left.
Save the .XML file
Now, you can either click on "Save to File" to generate and save an .XML file, or you can "Copy to Clipboard" to paste/replace this SiteMap in your existing sitemap.xml file.Sitemap settings
The 'Last Modified' attribute tells the crawler how recent your content is. As per Google's official SiteMap documentation, "Google does not currently consume the priority attribute in sitemaps."

Key takeaways
- This tool seems to be limited to "http" type sites and doesn't seem to support the secure "https"
- Although this freeware utility hasn't been updated in the last few years, it is one of the easiest and fastest tools I've used to generate a clean SiteMap. Till the SiteMap rules change significantly, this tool will suffice.
- Make sure you repeat this process any time you make changes to your website.
